Some stories are really special.......................when they are true.
My great thanks to Stephanie Badgley and Nadir Bellahmer for their gracious musical poetry and creative insight with me on this single, great artists in their own right with their own albums. Look forward to my full length 2013 album release, Heaven’s Arms later this year with these special guests joining me again.
About the figure on the single cover. I took a photo of this painting which is on the side of a Lancaster WW2 bomber cockpit section replica in the Nanton Aviation Museum in Nanton, Alberta. The painting is a replica of what was on Lancaster KB-864 of the 428 Squadron RCAF. The figure is based on the popular “Varga” pin-up girl who was featured in the January 1945 edition of Esquire magazine. The ‘S’ is for Sugar-Sugar’s Blues a popular wartime dance tune at the time. The original artwork was painted by Wireless / Air-gunner Sgt. Tommy Walton who is a member of the Nanton Aviation Society. This replica painting in the aviation museum was done by artist Clarence Simmonsen, a researcher, author, artist and society member who has worked extensively in the area of aircraft nose art.
